The War Journal:
Where Demons Fear To Tread

I am War

I am War

11 September 2001

The earliest light of predawn turns the Boston sky a deep cerulean blue. This city was born in Me. This nation was born in Me. This nation born in War sleeps in peace and silence, even on a bed of nails. As the nation sleeps, they know not that I will soon come knocking at their door once more. America, I am War. America, I am standing at your door.

Today the horseman will take flight, bringing fire from the sky. From out of this city born in War, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 will set flight for Los Angeles International Airport. These flights will not reach their destination. Ten men from the Middle East have set in motion an act of War. The hellfire of War will take to the skies this day.

When the smoke has cleared from the destruction, the violence, and the bloodshed, a single man known as the leader of the free world will stand and speak to his nation and the world. He will speak of the terror. He will speak of War. President George W. Bush will answer the call of War.

"Good evening.

Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes or in their offices: secretaries, business men and women, military and federal workers, moms and dads, friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror. The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge -- huge structures collapsing have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding anger. These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed. Our country is strong.

A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve. America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining. Today, our nation saw evil -- the very worst of human nature -- and we responded with the best of America. With the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could."

"The search is underway for those who were behind these evil acts. I have directed the full resources of our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find those responsible and to bring them to justice. We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them.

I appreciate so very much the members of Congress who have joined me in strongly condemning these attacks. And on behalf of the American people, I thank the many world leaders who have called to offer their condolences and assistance. America and our friends and allies join with all those who want peace and security in the world, and we stand together to win the war against terrorism.

Tonight, I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a Power greater than any of us, spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: 'Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil for you are with me.'

This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.

Thank you. Good night. And God bless America."

Had I a face, I would smile. The Pawns have brought down the castles in flame, and the King has vowed to avenge his Rooks. The King will send his Knights into battle. The game is on. For the next decade, War will rage in a virtual stalemate. The more soldiers that fall on either side, more soldiers will rise to take their place. The War has no favorites; it destroys indiscriminantly. I destroy without discrimination.

At SFT Sacrifice, again in the city of Boston, a different kind of War was begun by SwitchBlade and the Blades of War. That night, a new army would rise to fight this War.

"Attention! Attention! All citizens are ordered to report to their District detention centers! Do not return to your homes! Do not contact anyone! Do not use any cellular or GPS devices! Surrender all weapons at once! Attention! This way to the camps!"

The audio clip begins the playing of "Endgame" by Megadeth over the loudspeakers. A man dressed in a white t-shirt with white jeans and white boots leaps the security barrier at ringside. He slides into the ring and hits Chambers with a forearm to the back of the head.

RW: What the?! Who is this now!

JC: It's Dave Kilmister, the muscle for Lars Adams!

RW: What is he doing here? Why is he helping Josh Konnely?!

JC: Your guess is as good as mine!

The music stops as Kilmister lifts the much smaller Chambers and drives him to the mat with a chokeslam. Konnely takes advantage of the distraction to rake Legend's eyes and get back to his feet. Johnny staggers right into a bicycle kick from Dave!

JC: Dave Kilmister has just laid waste to Kris Chambers AND Johnny Legend, old champion and new champion!

RW: They never stood a chance after the war they just fought!

"Let It Roll" by Divide The Day hits the loudspeakers.

RW: Here we go! That's the music of Lars Adams!

JC: Maybe now we'll get some answers! Or at least regain some sense of order.

Lars Adams runs out, dressed entirely in pale green. Kyle Murphy is right behind him, now wearing a black t-shirt and black jeans with black boots.

JC: Well, The Power members are all dressed in the same clothes as seems to be their norm.

RW: Yeah, just all in different colors.

Lars and Kyle slide into the ring. Adams comes face to face with Konnely, and Murphy with Kilmister. Adams' music cuts off as the four square off.

RW: We could have a face off right here!

JC: Sure looks like they're all ready to fight!

Adams and Murphy suddenly smile. Lars hugs Josh, and Kyle hugs Dave. Adams then hugs Kilmister as Murphy hugs Konnely.

JC: Good Lord! What are we seeing?!

RW: It looks like The Power has welcomed Josh Konnely into the family!

Blades of War and Exile have both asked for War. Be careful what you wish for, you just got it.

17 May 2010

The scene opens to an "independent" wrestling show inside the Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Connecticut. A young wrestler is standing in the ring when "Endgame" by Megadeth hits the loudspeakers. Dave Kilmister steps through the curtain and walks down to the ring. Dave is wearing full length white tights along with plain white boots and elbow pads. He steps over the top rope and into the ring. The bell sounds immediately, and the young wrestler charges the much larger Kilmister. Dave catches the smaller man by the throat and drives him to the mat with a chokeslam. Kilmister waits for the unnamed wrestler to stand, and when he does so Dave clobbers him with a bicycle kick. Kilmister pins the young man.

"Endgame" hits again, but is soon cut off by "Indestructible" by Disturbed. The lights go off as the sirens wail. When the lights come back up, Josh Konnely is standing in the ring alongside Dave Kilmister. Josh is dressed in the same type of attire as Dave, but his is blood red. Konnely grabs the motionless body of Kilmister's broken foe, and places the young man in the Pentagram. The match referee pleads with Josh to let go of the defenseless young man, but Konnely will not relent. He keeps the hold on for a full minute before releasing it and shoving the carcass away. Konnely climbs to his feet and raises Kilmister's hand. Dave then climbs out of the ring and tosses Josh a microphone.

[KONNELY] The first of the Four Horsemen to appear is Pestilence. There he stands, Dave Kilmister. In the wake of Pestilence comes War. That would be me. After us comes Famine, brought about by the destruction of Pestilence and War. Last comes Death, the final product of the prior three. Be it alone or together, the first three always lead to the last. Death brings its finality and carries the damned souls to their permanent resting place.

[KONNELY] Today is seventeen May, in the year of the Lord two-thousand-ten. Today I turn twenty-five years old, and I stand here in my hometown of Bridgeport, Connecticut. I have come home to the Park City as the number one contender to the vacant SFT National Championship. As far as I am concerned, that means that I should already BE the champion. Johnny Legend gave the title up. I won the number one contendership fair and square. They should GIVE ME the title.

[KONNELY] But no, in their infinite wisdom Strike Towers has chosen to force me into a title match against their chosen one, Saint Jude. The man who makes himself out to be the self-appointed savior of Strike Towers. The self-deifying Saint Jude, the glorified hobo. However, despite all the shameless self-promotion and self-righteousness, the truth is that Saint Jude has done far more to DAMN our company than he has ever done to save it!

The crowd boos.

[KONNELY] Yeah, go ahead and boo. You wouldn't be booing if you knew the man. If you knew him, you would know that what I have said is one hundred percent true. Saint Jude has made an offer to me to be a part of The Wall. Although we possess common enemies in Blades of War and the reportedly now defunct Exile, I have no use for The Wall. I ride with the horsemen, and we WILL destroy everything in our collective path.

[KONNELY] Saint Jude, I am above The Wall. We are above The Wall. We are Revelation. We are the end of everything. Nothing remains standing at the end of the Revelation, not even The Wall. Not even Exile can save the souls of the weak and sinful from Pestilence, War, Famine, and Death. We are Revelation, and we are absolute.

[KONNELY] As I have already mentioned, I am the rightful National Champion. Saint Jude, it is up to you to take that title from me. Quite honestly, I don't think you have what it takes. I'm the Park City Punisher. I'm The Butcher of Bridgeport. I am War, the one man death squad. I destroy indiscriminantly. I destroy with joyful malice. It is a righteous end for the wicked. It is the eradication of the pestilence of the human disease. Humanity is a disease, and I am its cure.

[KONNELY] Mankind is known for its warlike nature and bloodlust. Humanity is the only breed of animal on this planet that kills for more than just survival. People fight wars for nations, wars for religions, and worst of all wars for profit. War is a plague that humanity has infected itself with for centuries. It is a well-deserved punishment for the self-righteous pride and greed of the people. We inflict our own suffering on ourselves and each other. We destroy one another for our own selfish purposes, and so we deserve our fate.

[KONNELY] I have merely chosen to embrace this unfortunate reality as inevitable. Mankind will destroy itself, and we have only ourselves to blame. The Revelation, we are the harbingers of what is to come. Pestilence. War. Famine. Death. The inevitable apocalypse that humanity will bring upon itelf. Armageddon in the land of Amerigo.

[KONNELY] Now, some of you people may believe there is no god. And by that thinking, there must also be no Satan, since Lucifer was an angel cast out of heaven by God and the archangel Michael. By process of deduction, this apocalypse theory and the idea of there being four horsemen must also be a fabrication. But let me pose to those doubters a simple little question. Well, not so much a question as a hypothetical, or something to ponder. It's rhetorical. But if there are truly no higher powers controlling good and evil, and the gray areas in between, then where does all the evil come from? It must all be in the hearts and minds of the people ourselves. Now isn't that thought far more disturbing than anything religion has to offer?

[KONNELY] What do you think, Jude? For weeks we have heard the questioning from you waning faith. Is it not sad to think that all the horrors and darkness of this world reside solely in the hearts and minds of its inhabitants? No evil power drives us to beat, rape, torture and kill each other. We are just sick, disgusting, and bloodthirsty animals incapable of complete morality and decency. Now isn't that sufficient reason to take HOPE in faith, if nothing else?

Josh starts to climb out of the ring, and some of the crowd actually cheers. Konnely stops and steps back into the ring as a thought occurs to him.

[KONNELY] Oh yeah, you remember when I called Bridgeport my "HOME?" That is nothing more than an unpleasant truth of circumstance. I may LIVE in Bridgeport, but I am FROM a little place called Saugerties, New York, at the feet of the Catskills. The Park City? More like Park PITY. As in, "it's a PITY anyone has to LIVE in this shithole." As in, "it's a PITY somebody can't just wipe this whole God forsaken place off the face of the planet." Cheer that, you flea-picking, war-mongering monkeys.

[KONNELY] As for Saint Jude, the next time I come home it will be with the National Championship around my waist. You cannot stand in the way of the War. The entire Wall cannot keep back the coming destruction of War.

Josh bends to one knee and pulls something out of the side of his boot. He hands the paper to Dave, who hands it to the ring announcer.

[ANNOUNCER (reading)] Ladies and gentlemen, here is your winner and NEW National Champion, representing the... New World Order... Josh... Konnely!

Konnely raises his arms in mock victory. "Indestructible" by Disturbed hits the loudspeakers again, and the scene fades to RED.

"The Leader of the New World Order, the President of the United States
Has declared anyone now residing inside the US of A
Without the RFID chip, you're just an illegal alien
An enemy combatant of America, welcome to the New World Order"

I am War
The Second of the Four
Behind me come two more
I am War

Born to push you around,
Better just stay down.
You pull away,
He hits the flesh,
You hit the ground.

Mouth so full of lies,
Tend to black your eyes.
Just keep them closed,
Keep praying,
Just keep waiting.

Waiting for the one!
The day that never comes!
When you stand up and feel the warmth!
But the sunshine never comes!

No the sun shine never comes.

Push you cross that line,
Just stay down this time.
Hide in yourself,
Crawl in yourself,
You'll have your time.

God, I'll make them pay,
Take it back one day.
I'll end this day,
I'll splatter color on this gray.

Waiting for the one!
The day that never comes!
When you stand up and feel the warmth!
But the sunshine never comes!

Love is a four letter word!
And never spoken here!

Love is a four letter word!
Here in this prison!
I suffer this no longer!
I'll put an end to,
This I swear!
This I swear!
The sun will shine!
This I swear!
This I swear!
This I SWEAR!!!
